Introducing Mobile Mondays

Although it is Tuesday, starting today and for each upcoming Monday, I will be posting in the light of Mobile Mondays. 

Mobile Monday posts will explore new and exciting mobile apps that help with finding cheap clothing and accessories. 

Each week, I will make an effort to find a mobile resource that I can share on the blog. Since smartphones are ubiquitous, nearly everyone can understand the convenience and ingenuity of mobile apps. 

Without further ado, today’s resource is Poshmark.

Poshmark is an online website with a mobile app that lets the user essentially sell the contents of their closets. 

This website ties together the idea of a garage sale with the convenience of sitting on the couch. Users can take photos of clothing and accessories they want to sell and market them to other users.

Ease of use is emphasized on Poshmark- users can create a listing in less than 60 seconds. 

Signup is easy and free, allowing the user to create an account separately or one tied to their Facebook or Gmail account. 

Worried about the hassle and cost of shipping? Have no fear. Poshmark supplies the seller with a pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label that is ready to be put on the box. Also, sellers can have their shipped-out packages picked up for free from home.

Thought-Provoking Picture

This image depicts a conch shell in a desert, with a sky turning from clear to ominous in the distance. The photo could be meaningless, or it could mean something significant to the viewer, depending on the different perspectives of each individual.

The shell seems like it could be out of place. Why would a shell be in a desert? What is the significance of the sky changing from light to dark in the background, or the mountain range before it?

The rippling surface of the desert signifies a pattern, or something continuous, from what I see. There is nothing that the eye can see except for a single shell. The shell is beautiful, and represents water and life- something that the desert has little of. The mountains in the background could be interpreted as a wall of some sort, concealing whatever lies beyond it from the viewer.

When it comes to finding your personal style, it is easy to get caught up in recent trends on social media platforms, TV, and of people around you.

If you choose to go against “norms” in fashion and wear something unique, you may find yourself out of place, just like the shell in this photo. But, that is not a bad thing. In the photo, the shell could represent a token of beauty among something dull and lifeless such as a desert.

Strive for originality, and do not be afraid! Find the personal style that makes you the happiest. Be the conch shell in the desert.

Introduction to Fashion on the Fly

Welcome to my new blog, Fashion on the Fly. This is the place where I will rant and rave about one of my true passions, fashion and style. I believe that everybody has an ideal image of what they want to look like but may not be able to afford. Hopefully this blog will help contribute resources and ideas to make your personal style goals a reality. No matter what your style is, it is attainable on a tighter budget. 

Fashion is one of my favorite hobbies and I follow many other social media accounts, blogs, and vlog channels that focus on the subject. There is nothing more exciting to me than putting together a cute outfit. However, as a college student at Indiana University South Bend, I have financial limitations and must think long and hard about making a purchase. I am all too familiar with the heartbreak of not being able to afford that one pair of shoes or gorgeous handbag. Thankfully, there are mobile apps and websites out there that make it easier to find both statement and staple pieces that are more wallet-friendly.

This blog will cultivate looks and style ideas- all while keeping in mind that money is a factor. I encourage comments and replies to posts so we can keep ideas flowing and share other helpful tips and tricks to maintain your ideal style.
